Abrasion-Resistant Welding Wire

Abrasion-resistant welding wire is specifically designed to resist two or more types of composite wear. It is primarily used for surface hardfacing and repair of equipment components in industries such as metallurgy, cement, and mining. Based on chemical composition, it is classified into two categories: iron-based (high-chromium alloys, tungsten carbide, etc.) and non-iron-based (cobalt-based, nickel-based). Structurally, it can be divided into solid wire and flux-cored wire. The welding processes include gas-shielded welding, submerged arc welding, and flame hardfacing. By adjusting the flux-cored alloy composition (such as tungsten carbide, chromium, molybdenum, etc.), this material achieves composite properties including resistance to abrasive wear, impact wear, high-temperature wear, and corrosion wear. The hardness of the hardfacing layer ranges from HRC 30 to 72. Its applications include industrial equipment components such as roller press extrusion rollers, crusher hammers, and valve sealing surfaces, which can reduce repair costs by 25% to 75% and extend the service life of workpieces by 30% to 800%.

Classification Methods

(1) Based on chemical composition, it can be divided into two major categories: iron-based hardfacing abrasion-resistant welding wire and non-iron-based hardfacing abrasion-resistant welding wire. Each major category can be further subdivided into several subcategories based on chemical composition characteristics or microstructure. For example, iron-based hardfacing abrasion-resistant welding wire can be classified into high-chromium alloy hardfacing abrasion-resistant welding wire, tungsten carbide hardfacing abrasion-resistant welding wire, etc. Non-iron-based hardfacing abrasion-resistant welding wire can be divided into cobalt-based hardfacing abrasion-resistant welding wire and nickel-based hardfacing abrasion-resistant welding wire. (2) Based on wire structure, it can be categorized into solid wire and flux-cored (also known as tubular) wire. (3) Based on the welding process used, it can be classified into gas-shielded welding, submerged arc welding, flame hardfacing, plasma hardfacing, and spraying (welding) hardfacing abrasion-resistant welding wire.
